Non-Lethal Pepper Spray Guns

by P. Birmingham

If you are looking for a non-lethal weapon, many people consider a Taser or Stun Gun, but many people aren't aware of Pepper Spray Guns, which in some ways is a better choice.  Many people are only aware of the smaller handheld pepper sprays.

Pepper Spray Guns are very effective.  They shoot further than a Taser and don't require precision accuracy like a Taser to hit your attacker.  The pepper spray contents will distribute over several feet affecting an attacker.  However, blowback from the spray can affect the user as well as the attacker.

If pepper spray is released indoors it can be messy and smelly, although non-toxic, which will require some cleanup.  Below are the 5 Pepper Spray Guns that we carry. Check them out for further information and see if one fits your needs.

Several states (NY, MA, MI & WI) have some restrictions for pepper sprays that you should review before purchasing.

Check out this new product we just started selling in our store. This product is called the Pocket Jump which can charge your dead cell phone battery like a normal power bank but it is the first product that can jump-start your car from inside the vehicle!

Imagine yourself stranded along a dark road or in a desolate parking lot in the middle of the night. First, your phone dies, then your car won’t start. Now you’re left without the security of a working phone messing with dirty jumper cables while hoping the “right” kind of person stops to help.

This is why the Pocket Jump was invented. It is the first product of its kind that can transfer power directly to the car battery through your vehicle’s power outlet. Equipped with Smart Charge Technology, not only can it recharge devices like smart phones, tablets, and gaming devices, it also has enough power to jump-start a vehicle — all from the security and convenience of the driver’s seat. Recharging the Pocket Jump is easy using the included USB cord. You can charge it in your home or car using your block charger (not included) or USB car plug (not included). Do Not Use a TASER to Commit a Crime

If you are a criminal, TASER devices should be the last weapon to use to commit a crime!  Why do you ask?

When a TASER is fired it disperses numerous small tags with the serial number that allows law enforcement to easily trace it back to the owner as evident in this video.

In the video, a customer actually purchased a TASER from us to steal a million-dollar Stradivarius violin.  It didn't go well.  He and his associate were easily caught, convicted, and sent to prison.

Below is a picture of the tags from a TASER cartridge showing the serial number:

TASER vs Stun Gun Video

Many people use the term TASER and stun gun interchangeable but they are not the same thing. The video below does a great job in describing the differences.

How does a stun gun work?

01/11/2020
by P. Birmingham

Stun guns utilize high voltage and low amperage electrical charge to disrupt the body’s communication system thus not seriously harming the body. The low amperage with the high voltage means there’s a lot of pressure behind the charge. Think of a small-diameter hose discharging high-pressure water as opposed to a very large-diameter hose with high-pressure water that can kill you!

A stun gun will disrupt an attacker’s nervous system which causes the charge to combine with the electrical signals from an attacker’s brain. This causes the attacker’s brain to not allow the muscles to move and may cause the attacker to become confused and unbalanced. Additionally, the attacker will be temporarily partially paralyzed.

A conventional stun gun is fairly simple. They are about the size of a flashlight and most use an ordinary 9-volt battery. The battery supplies electricity to a simple circuit consisting of various electrical components which include multiple transformers, an oscillator, a capacitor and electrodes.

Hidden Cameras with Built in DVR and Wi-Fi Are Easy to Use

Hidden cameras are getting much easier to use. Not too long ago you needed to have a separate recording device such as a VCR or DVD recorder to record the video whether is was wired or wireless. Now some hidden cameras are pretty much self contained units with built in DVR (Digital Video Recorder) that records to a SD (Secure Digital) card. Additionally, some feature Wi-Fi for remote viewing and recording.

All you have to do now is place the hidden camera where you want it, plug it in, point it in the direction you want to record and hit record on a remote control. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

To view the video, you can hook the hidden camera to a TV or computer monitor or remove the SD card and insert it into a SD card reader on your computer or an external SD card reader to view the video.  As stated, some hidden cameras feature Wi-Fi for remote viewing and recording.

How safe are TASERS?

01/11/2020
by P. Birmingham

TASERAccording to TASER/Axon, a US DOJ-funded study by the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center study found that 99.75% of 1,201 field uses of TASER weapons in a wide range of drug and alcohol influences, ages, and race resulted in no significant injuries, demonstrating that the TASER device is the safest intermediate use-of-force option for police.

Tasers are electroshock weapons that use electrical current to disrupt muscle control, causing temporary incapacitation. When used correctly, Tasers are generally considered to be safe non-lethal weapons. However, like any weapon, there is a risk of injury or death if the Taser is misused or if the person being Tasered has a pre-existing medical condition that makes them vulnerable to the effects of the electrical current.

Tasers have been designed to minimize the risk of injury, and they have been widely adopted by law enforcement agencies and security professionals as a less-lethal option for controlling violent or combative individuals. When used according to the manufacturer's instructions, Tasers have been shown to be effective at controlling violent or combative individuals without causing serious injury.

However, Tasers are not without risk. There have been reports of individuals dying after being Tasered, although these incidents are relatively rare. In many cases, the individuals who died had underlying medical conditions that made them more vulnerable to the effects of the electrical current. There have also been instances of individuals suffering serious injuries after being Tasered, such as broken bones or head injuries sustained during falls.

In conclusion, Tasers are generally considered to be safe non-lethal weapons when used according to the manufacturer's instructions. However, like any weapon, there is a risk of injury or death if the Taser is misused or if the person being Tasered has a pre-existing medical condition that makes them vulnerable to the effects of the electrical current. It is important to use Tasers responsibly and only in situations where they are necessary to protect oneself or others from harm.

What is Mace?

by P. Birmingham

Mace is a nonlethal self-defense product that uses tear gas in the form of an aerosol spray that propels a lachrymatory agent mixed with a volatile solvent. Mace is legal in a few countries which include the United States.

The original mace formulation is made up of 1% CN gas in a solvent of 2-butanol, cyclohexene, propylene glycol and di propylene glycol methyl ether. Some formulations now include Oleoresin Capsicum which is the active ingredient in pepper spray. Today mace and pepper spray are used interchangeably when spayed irritates the eyes, skin, and lungs and make it difficult to breathe.

Mace was originally manufactured by the name “Chemical Mace” by Lake Erie Chemical (a former division of Smith & Wesson) in 1962. However, it is now a registered trademark of Mace Security International. Mace sold today by Mace Security International and other companies is actually pepper spray instead of tear gas.

What is Pepper Spray?

03/10/2019
by P. Birmingham

Pepper spray is a chemical compound that irritates the eyes to cause tears, pain, and even temporary blindness. The chemical is a lachrymatory agent that is a less lethal agent that may be deadly in very rare instance. The active ingredient in pepper spray is capsaicin. It is a chemical derived from the fruit of plants in the Capsicum genus, including chilis.

According to Wikipedia:

Extraction of oleoresin capsicum from peppers involves finely ground capsicum, then the capsaicin is extracted in an organic solvent such as ethanol. The solvent is then evaporated, and the remaining waxlike resin is the oleoresin capsicum. An emulsifier such as propylene glycol is used to suspend the OC in water, and pressurized to make it aerosol in pepper spray. The high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method is used to measure the amount of capsaicin within pepper sprays. Scoville Heat Units (SHU) are used to measure the concentration or “heat” of pepper spray. Oleoresin capsicum also is used in foods where the flavor and piquancy are desired without visible pepper specks, or to standardize the Scoville units.

Pepper sprays are typically in canisters that are small enough to be carried or concealed in a pocket or purse. Pepper sprays can also be purchased concealed in items such as rings, guns, lipstick, pagers, pens, etc,.
