The TASER Bolt 2 is a compact, non-lethal self-defense device designed for personal protection at a safe distance. Built by Axon Enterprise, a leader in public safety technology, the Bolt 2 combines proven neuromuscular incapacitation (NMI) technology with a discreet, easy-to-carry design.

When connected to the Axon Protect, the device can automatically alert emergency dispatch and share your GPS location when deployed.

  1. Is the TASER Bolt 2 rechargeable?

    • No, the TASER Bolt 2 is not rechargeable. However, its batteries are user-replaceable and provide sufficient energy for multiple uses.

  2. How do I set up/change my Bolt 2 battery?

    • The Bolt 2 uses two replaceable CR123 batteries, widely available where batteries are sold. To see the battery replacement process, watch our Civilian Trainer Francisco in action. If your battery housing is malfunctioning, fill out the RMA form in our Help section to begin the repair process.

  3. Are the cartridges reusable?

    • Each cartridge can be fired only once but can deliver multiple electrical cycles. This means that while the darts project at a target only once, subsequent electrical cycles can be engaged if the darts remain in the target after the initial 30-second electrical cycle.

  4. Can I buy cartridges longer than 15 feet?

    • No, civilians are limited to purchasing 15-foot cartridges. Cartridges of other lengths are available exclusively for Law Enforcement agencies.

  5. After the cartridge is fired, are you completely defenseless?

    • No, all TASER energy weapons are equipped with backup stun gun features to be used after the cartridge has been deployed.

  6. Do the probes need to hit a specific area to be effective?

    • As long as all conditions for Neuromuscular Incapacitation (NMI) are met, including probe connection and spread, a current can flow through muscles, causing the attacker to lose control.

  7. Will a TASER Bolt 2 be effective on an attacker in thick clothing?

    • Yes, the darts can penetrate clothing, and the electricity can jump up to two inches of combined distances between the probes and the skin.

  8. Will TASER Bolt 2 incapacitation effects work on larger, stronger people?

    • Yes, a TASER energy weapon may be just as effective on a 300-pound man as it is on a 150-pound woman.

  9. Will a TASER Bolt 2 work on an attacker who is high or intoxicated?

    • Probe deployment's ability to induce NMI does not depend on the target's mental state, as long as probe connection and spread conditions are met.
