I wish they would have kept the range to 15 feet like the older Taser x2 cartriges. The range of the 7 CQ cartridges are only 12 feet. However, according to Axon, 85% of the deployment of the Taser was at close range (4-10 feet). In addition , the CQ7 probes are redesigned to fire at a higher velocity and weigh more. Thus producing, higher kinetic energy with less of a chance for the probes to ricochet. Also, the probes can penetrate thick clothing easier.
